As you already know, numerous sporting events and entertainment events have been canceled or postponed in Japan amidst Coronavirus concerns. These include events related to the Japanese game industry, such as stage plays, tournaments or concerts. The YoRHa Ver1.3aa NieR stage play dates from March 12 to 15 were canceled. The new Sakura Wars stage play, Shin Sakura Taisen The Stage, was supposed to be held from March 5 to 8, but got canceled as well. And the main subject here, the dates for the NieR: Theatrical Orchestra 12020 Concerts, which were planned for March 28-29 in Tokyo, were canceled too. Square Enix mentioned the April 25, Osaka date for the concert is still maintained for now.
3月29日に何かやる。
最悪、俺とヨコオさんだけでも何かやる。10周年だし10時間くらいやる。#NieR#舞台ヨルハ#NieROrchestraConcert— 齊藤陽介 Yosuke Saito (@SaitoYosuke_Z) March 2, 2020
Following the cancelation announcement, on Twitter, NieR Producer Yosuke Saito mentioned: “We’ll do something on March 29. At worst, it’ll only be Yoko Taro and me. But it’s the tenth anniversary, so we need to do something around ten hours long.”

Yoko Taro also quote-retweeted Yosuke Saito’s tweet, saying “let’s do this”.
These March concerts were supposed to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the NieR series. That’s just a guess of mine, but it might have included some kind of new announcement. Meaning Yosuke Saito and Yoko Taro could be appearing on a livestream instead on March 29, and share whatever was supposed to happen at the concert. I think the most plausible scenario, however, is a ten hours long talk show stream with Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito drinking non-stop and saying whatever’s on their mind with no actual announcement or news. Anyway, we’ll tell you more as soon as we learn more.
Square Enix recently trademarked NieR. And a new OST album is on the way.
