When it comes to news on Yakuza 7’s Western release, all has been quite for a while now. But it looks like that might be changing very soon.
Announced as Yakuza: Like a Dragon for the West back in September, the game was listed for Steam on Monday and entered on SteamDB, which probably means a store page and some sort of announcement is soon to follow.
The game already launched in Japan back in January for the PlayStation 4, and brought on a major shift for the long-running Sega series, introducing a new protagonist and switching from action to a turn-based RPG style.
Sega has been experimenting with putting Yakuza on different platforms in the past couple years, after keeping it a near exclusive series to PlayStation throughout its entire run. Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 were brought to Steam and Xbox One, with the moves opening up the franchise to a slew of new fans.
That Yakuza: Like a Dragon has a Steam listing is interesting, 1) because it suggests that a release date may be set soon, and 2) because it might mean that a PC version will launch alongside the PS4 version for the first time, or at least be right behind it.

After Yakuza 6: The Song of Life completed the decades-long story of its main character, Kiryu Kazuma, developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio felt it was time for a change. It started with Judgment (Judge Eyes in Japan) — a new detective story in the familiar setting of Kamurocho — and carried on into Yakuza: Like A Dragon, which follows Ichiban Kasuga in a rag to riches adventure…”Just like in Dragon Quest!” as he says in-game.
