Shovel Knight: King of Cards is the final act in the Treasure Trove saga. Yacht Club is promising that it one-ups all the past entries in both size and scope. You play as King Knight and fight through 30 courses over 4 brand new worlds. You’ll fight back against the fake kings who have overtaken the land and prove that you are the one true monarch. King of Cards will have that same exquisite platforming you’ve come to know and love, though the King has a few new tricks to share.
Shovel Knight Showdown, on the other hand, is a multiplayer brawler. There are 16 Shovel Knight characters for you to master. Up to four friends can play as their favorite heroes and villains from Shovel Knight lore in frenetic free-for-alls. You can also team up against the AI in co-op battles and work your way through the game’s story mode. It looks to be platform-fighting at its finest.
Both games are targeting a December 2019 release date and are releasing on just about everything. Shovel Knight Showdown will come to Amazon FireTV, Linux, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PS3, PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One. King of Cards will come to all of those and the 3DS and Vita. Both will also cost $9.99 standalone but will be a free download for anyone who has Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove.
