In the fallout of yesterday’s latest edition of Inside Xbox which finally gave us a look at which games were coming to Xbox Series X, some fans were disappointed by the showing. Most notably, the lack of actual gameplay for some titles was a big stick

Now, Microsoft’s GM of Xbox Games Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, has admitted that perhaps the wrong expectations for the showcase were set by the team at Xbox. In response to a fan on Twitter, Greenberg acknowledged that this version of Inside Xbox was maybe hyped up a bit too much. “Had we not said anything & just shown May Inside Xbox show like we did last month, I suspect reactions might have been different,” Greenberg said in his message on Twitter.

“Clearly we set some wrong expectations & that’s on us,” he continued. “We appreciate all the feedback & can assure you we will take it all in & learn as a team.”

One of the biggest points of contention for many viewers of yesterday’s Inside Xbox episode came in the way of the show’s climax, which centered around Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. With the promise of gameplay for Valhalla said to be appearing, the trailer that actually ended up debuting didn’t feature much in the way of actual gameplay whatsoever, and instead mainly showcased in-game footage.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’s creative director Ashraf Ismail ended up responded to some of the criticism from the trailer on Twitter as well, assuring fans that much more of the game will be shown in the future. “We have a long marketing campaign ahead of us, you will see in-depth gameplay and get a lot more info about the game,” Ismail said.

Even if you were one of those folks disappointed by what was featured on the Inside Xbox stage yesterday, it’s absolutely not the last time we’ll be hearing from Microsoft when it comes to the Xbox Series X. The team at Xbox announced earlier this week that an ongoing series that is being referred to as Xbox 20/20 will be transpiring every month leading up to the arrival of the Series X. While we aren’t sure exactly what June’s edition of this showcase might bring, we do know that Halo Infinite and other first-party titles from Xbox Game Studios will be featured come July. Hopefully, future editions of Inside Xbox will line more up with fan expectations once they transpire.

And as for the Xbox Series X, the platform still doesn’t have a price point or specific release date. All we know is that it’s still very much on track to arrive later this holiday season.
