Wushu Studios, created by former Evolution Studios developers, has announced that they will be collaborating with fellow British development studio Lucid Games for multiple future projects, beginning with Switchblade, a vehicle MOBA currently in early access on PlayStation 4 and Steam.
“Lucid are a classy team and we’re thrilled to be contributing to their upcoming projects. Opportunities like these, to work and share knowledge with other talented and experienced developers, are what motivate us as a team. New challenges like these offer us a chance to hone our skills and flex our creativity which, in turn, helps us stay agile when it comes to our own IP – something we hope to be able to talk more about soon. We look forward to sharing more about our work with Lucid in the coming weeks and months”, said Wushu Studios founder Alan McDermott.
Wushu was formed in 2017 after the closure of Evolution Studios, a Sony studio known for their work on Motorstorm and Driveclub. Their new partner, Lucid, was founded in 2011 after the closure of Bizarre Creations, known for their work on the Project Gotham Racing series. Both studios were known for racing games but with Switchblade are moving into different genres while keeping the same spirit. Lucid is also known for their work on the Geometry Wars series, including the most recent entry Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions.
Switchblade released in August of this year for PC and PlayStation 4 and is a 5v5 vehicle shooter that is currently in early access and requires a starter pack buy in that begins at $2.99. Wushu Studios is currently also working on a new science fiction IP but that will not be detailed anytime in the near future according to their Twitter update that also announced the partnership.
