Spyro Reignited Trilogy has been teased a fair amount leading up to E3 and now we’ve been given a look at the game in action running on PS4 during PlayStation Live from E3. Developer Toys For Bob sat on stage and shows us about ten minutes of the game being played live by Toys For Bob’s Peter Kavic.
The demo shows off the remastered visuals which look striking. The environments are high-quality and the fire leaves embers floating. Grass can be burnt when set ablaze and levels have been designed with the original titles in mind trying to retain the dimensions so that it feels exactly like the original world levels.
Peter Kavic states that while they’ve been able to keep the world as close to the original as possible, they have been able to slightly change elements thanks to modern technology, such as how the enemies look, the size, and their animations. We get a great look at the cutscenes that play when rescuing the dragons with the same audio being maintained but with more model animation that wasn’t possible in the classic Spyro titles.
We also get to see the time-attack level in action which sees Spyro flying around a level with the goal to explode a certain number of various props as quickly as possible, and fly through archways and gain additional time. It really looks like they’ve kept the feel of the classic titles intact in Spyro Reignited Trilogy
For those that don’t know, Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a remastered version of all three previous Spyro classic titles, Spyro The Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. It follows after Toys For Bob’s Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy. You can watch the demo below.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is due to launch on September 21st 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One. It is available for pre-order and pre-orders are “well ahead of expectations”.
