When is the Demon Slayer game coming out – well, Aniplex and CyberConnect2 finally revealed a release date for Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba, The Hinokami Chronicles (Hinokami Keppuutan in Japan).
Aniplex should make the official announcement first in this month’s V-Jump magazine out in a few days, however, the usual magazine leaks have leaked the release date of Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles in Japan.

When does the Demon Slayer game comes out?
Kimetsu no Yaiba Hinokami Keppuutan, coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam, will launch in Japan on October 14, 2021. It’s interesting to note this is the time frame when the second TV anime season of Demon Slayer will start airing as well.
In Japan, the game will be priced at 8,360 Yen for the regular edition, 9,900 Yen for the digital deluxe edition, and 16,280 Yen for a physical limited edition only releasing on PS4. All prices are tax included.
Sega Asia has not announced a release date for the English version Demon Slayer The Hinokami Chronicles yet, but we’ll probably hear one in the next few weeks. Keep in mind this is a fighting game. So you could easily import and play in Japanese if the English release date isn’t simultaneous.

Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles story mode, versus mode explained
Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles has a story mode which retraces Tanjiro’s story, though we don’t know yet how much of the manga it will cover in total. Only Tanjiro (and his variants : Water Breathing, Hinokami, and probably Gakuen), is playable in the story mode.
Meanwhile, the game’s full roster is playable in Versus Mode. Players each pick two characters and fight each other in tag battle matches: You can switch with your partner at any time during battle. The game does not feature simultaneous 2vs2 battles. Versus mode includes an online mode as well.
- HINOKAMI CHRONICLES – Main roster listed
One thing a bit weird however is that CyberConnect2 has yet to introduce any demon playable characters in Hinokami Chronicles. Including main villain Muzan. Perhaps we’ll see them through DLC, which would be a bummer to say the least.
