Those looking to try a new co-operative action game now have the opportunity to play Warhammer: Vermintide 2, which will be free-to-play this weekend. Additionally, the game by Fatshark is also half-off for purchase for the time being.
Vermintide 2 is not unlike Left 4 Dead, both games featuring 4-player co-op first-person action against hordes of enemies. The free weekend coincides with the release of downloadable content, titled Shadows Over Bogenhafen—the DLC includes two new levels, as well as quests and cosmetics. The additional content costs $9.99, but both new levels can be played for free in quickplay.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is also available for Xbox One owners, but don’t expect the same promotion for that version of the game. Still, anyone subscribed to Xbox Game Pass can still play it. If you missed the trailer for Shadows Over Bogenhafen, you can watch it below. The free weekend and sale will be on Steam until September 3—try the game out for free, and buy it for half off if you end up liking it.
