Valheim, Iron Gate’s latest survival-RPG, has managed to amass millions of players just within a few weeks of launch. The game’s expansive open world is filled with rivers and other water bodies, which makes it quite difficult to traverse the terrain. To make things easier, players can construct bridges. Just like some other structures in the game, building bridges over water bodies is a bit tricky. Here is all you need to know about building bridges in Valheim.
Valheim Bridge Building Guide – How to build a bridge over water
Like we mentioned earlier, bridges are quite important in the game to travel across water bodies. Ideally, you should be well aware of the surrounding terrain during the building process. That’s why it’s recommended that you build a bridge during the day. This will not only help you in seeing under the water clearly but will also give you a better view of the surroundings.
Before you start building the bridge, you need to make sure that you have a workbench on either side of the water body. Having enough workbenches help you in gathering the materials for the bridge more easily. Apart from that, you also need to ensure that the ground underneath the water is leveled. You can level the ground by using a hoe.
Once you have the workbenches ready and the ground leveled, you can start off by laying down the stairs to the bridge. You can place two stairs side by side to make the bride even wider. After that, start off by laying down the floor of the bridge. While laying down the floor, you will notice that some of them turn red. This means that it requires some support. This where things get a bit tricky.
You need to add pillars in the areas where the floor is red. While adding pillars in the starting part of the bridge is quite easy, you might face difficulties in doing so in areas where the water is deep. The best way to build a bridge over water is by using a hoe to raise the ground underneath. Raising the ground allows you to add pillars easily, which is otherwise not possible since your character can’t build while swimming. If you don’t wish to do that, you can try standing on the very edge of the bridge and adding pillars to the floor panels. This requires a lot of precision and considering that the game’s snapping mechanic isn’t the best, you might have a hard time building a bridge this way.
