The Utawarerumono series is a very popular tactical RPG/visual novel hybrid from Japan. The second and third games in the series came to Steam in January 2020, but the first title has yet to join them. Soon, that all changes. Today, the teams at AquaPlus, DMM GAmes, and Shiravune announced Prelude to the Fallen is coming to PC on January 21. Alongside the new release, the other two games are getting a few important updates. Check it out.

For fans of the series, this is an awesome development. Utawarerumono has been around for a long time and it continues to be very popular. If you’ve never seen them before, think of them as story-heavy visual novels with elements of Final Fantasy Tactics tossed in. Personally, I’ve never made the time to get into the series. However, I’d be lying if I said those elements don’t have me intrigued.
And it’s not just this new game that is getting support. As part of releasing Prelude to the Fallen on PC, the team is adding auto-save functionality. They’ll bring that to the two sequels as well. Now, this isn’t some game-changing feature, but it is a nice quality of life feature. Plus, dropping into already released games is a great gesture from the team behind this release. They’ve also gone through and polished the English translation for Prelude to the Fallen. Yet again, another welcome update from the team.
