Ubisoft Detail Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Upcoming Visual Customization System Arriving Tomorrow

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is getting an all-new feature arriving to the game this week as detailed by Ubisoft in a blog post uploaded today.

The feature is a visual customization system —also known as Transmog— that allows players to customize how their character’s gear in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey looks. The new system allows players to choose what their weapons, armor, and gear look like without affecting the statistics. This can all be done through the inventory and can be accessed at any time.

The way weapons and gear looks are being treated by the game as collectibles, allowing players to find new gear and weapons and keep the visual style even if they sell, or dismantle the piece. In the inventory, you’ll see greyed out choices with the message, “You must loot this item to apply its visual.” Basically, you need to get looking around!

For those wondering, any gear and weapons that have been collected prior to this feature being introduced will automatically add the visuals. This goes for anything you may have sold or dismantled in the past too.

If you have items with varying levels of rarity, you’ll still be able to apply the visuals to other items. The only limitation is said to be that you can only choose visuals from the same item category. Spears and swords are different categories for example.

One GIF on the official blog post shows a helmet with a couple of variations, with other styles being locked away until the player reaches a certain level. In the FAQ, a question asks about this and the answer given is:

“All models are available, no matter your level or the level of the item. However, some models have additional variations that you unlock as your level increases. You need to have the item unlocked to see what variations are available.”

It’s also worth pointing out that this is all free, no in-game currency will need to be used and there are no cooldowns. Additionally, you’ll be able to choose visuals from Premium items too, but these will not be visible until you own the item.

“Absolutely, yes. However, we decided not to have Premium Items visible in the Visual Customization collection, until you own an item – then it will be visible and can be selected as visual.”

The visual customization system will be arriving in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on November 15 through the 1.0.7 patch. It’ll update for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Also included in the update will be photo mode improvements, an increased level cap, a detailed mercenary benefits page, and improvements to the smart loot system.
