Players of For Honor were able to take advantage of a pretty cool attribute to the game that was added yesterday to celebrate May 4, otherwise known as Star Wars day. Players who booted up the game yesterday were given weapons that very much looked like lightsabers.
So For Honor just became the best lightsaber fighting game while not being a Star Wars game. That’s actually kinda sad from r/forhonor
Spotted by Polygon, of course, Ubisoft was not legally allowed to refer to these weapons as lightsabers. Instead, the weapons have been given a green, red, or blue glow that makes it basically look just like a lightsaber, without it being referred to as such. The weapons even make noises that sound very similar to a lightsaber.
Disney lawyers can be pretty harsh and cruel so I don’t blame Ubisoft one bit for trying to make these weapons as distinct as possible.
Sadly, the event was only held yesterday and has since been taken down. Some players have taken to the game’s subreddit to try to bring back the event, however, it looks like no progress has been made on that front. Since For Honor was an Xbox Games With Gold title last year, I was able to download the game. But, I was sadly one of the players who were not able to pop in for this awesome addition to the game.
Star Wars day is always a fun and interesting day. Whether it is paying respects for one of the shows longtime actors who sadly passed away last week or just a slight addition to a game, it really shows that there are many, many Star Wars fans out there.
