After making the switch from Torchlight Frontiers to Torchlight 3 a few months ago, developer Echtra Games has slowly been dropping juicy details about the upcoming game. A few weeks ago, we got a great look at the third class coming to the game. And today, we’re getting another big helping of info. Echtra pulled back the curtain on player fortresses in Torchlight 3. Every adventurer will get access to their own, fully customizable fort to play around in. Check it out below.
Forts are your personal mark on the world of #TorchlightIII. Plant a lush garden, make a monument to your success, or memorials to the thousands of Goblins that stood in your way.

In Torchlight 3, player fortresses unlock relatively early in their adventures. Immediately, you’ll be able to start customizing to your heart’s content. As you go, you’ll unlock new options through quest rewards and progressing through contract tiers. Some of the structures you build are interactable, meaning that you can place them in your fortress and let other players use them. It also, of course, means that you’ll be able to visit other players’ forts.
In a welcome move from Echtra, fortresses are account-wide. You won’t need to build up separate ones for each character. As a former World of Warcraft player who put way too much time into fully upgrading five or six garrisons during Warlords of Draenor, that news alone is enough to pique my interest. Making a game more alt-friendly is always a good move in my book.
Torchlight 3 is set to launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime in 2020. A beta is supposed to be forthcoming as well, but we haven’t gotten a firm date on that just yet either. Until then, make sure to keep your eyes on DualShockers for all the latest news coming out of development.
