When Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 was revealed earlier this week, one question on the mind of many longtime fans dealt with the game’s iconic soundtrack. Which tracks from the original two games would be returning in this remake and which ones would potentially be left out? Well, now we have a better idea.
Announced this afternoon, Activision revealed which songs made the cut in THPS 1 and 2 with the full tracklist coming in at 18 songs in total. Notable tracks that made the cut include Rage Against the Machine’s “Guerrilla Radio, Primus’ “Jerry Was a Race Car Driver”, and most notably of all, Goldfinger’s “Superman.” It’s a solid list altogether and those who are looking for an adrenaline shot of nostalgia should find it here when jamming out to these songs in-game.

It’s worth noting that not every single track from the original two games are being included in this new remastered collection, however. Activision hasn’t said why all of the original songs are being left out of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2, but it stands to reason that music licensing could play a part. Scoring licensing deals for music in video games is often a struggle and songs are usually only licensed out for a set period of time.
For instance, all of the licensing agreements from some twenty-odd years ago when the THPS games have surely run out by now, meaning that Activision likely needed to get new deals in place for this remaster. Because of this, that’s likely why every song from the first two games at a baseline level can’t just be thrown back into this modern remake.
