Thomas Was Alone is one of the finest platforms of the past decade. It’s also Mike Bithell’s breakout game that cemented him as an indie star. And it’s been a while since the game was ported anywhere. So, today Bithell Games announced the game is finally coming to Nintendo Switch on February 19. We’ve known this coming for a little while now, but today’s release date confirmation lets fans know when they can play the modern classic on the go. Check out the trailer below.
If you’ve yet to experience the magic of Thomas Was Alone, the setup couldn’t be simpler. You play as different shapes which are actually AI routines that have gained their own personality. What follows is some exceptional platforming, a gripping story, and some of the best VO in the business. And the best part is that it’s an easy game for anyone to pick up and play. So, if you’re looking to get someone new into gaming, this is an excellent option.
I’m speaking from experience there, as this was the game that really got my wife interested in playing video games. Thomas Was Alone is challenging at times, but never too difficult. Also, the little shapes you play as are just exceedingly cute. The game does so much with so little. It really is an impressive piece of work.
The Nintendo Switch version also includes Benjamin’s Flight expansion. It serves as something of a prequel to Thomas’ story and incorporates a jetpack. And we all know jetpacks are awesome. Seriously, give this one a look if you’re in the mood for a relaxing platformer that you can beat in a weekend.
Thomas Was Alone comes to Nintendo Switch on February 19. The game is also currently available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
