Netflix’s The Witcher just can’t seem to catch a break. After four confirmed positive results for COVID-19, production and filming at Arborfield Studios, which is west of London, for season two was halted yet again last month. With production resuming a few weeks ago, poor Henry Cavill ended up injuring himself between filming scenes. Although Cavill’s leg injury was a minor one, production had to be temporarily suspended while Cavill, who plays Geralt of Rivia, took some time to rest.
Cavill is said to be sidelined for a short period of time, with season two of The Witcher filming around him. According to The Sun, Cavill hurt his leg while on an assault course, working at a height of 20ft while wearing a safety harness. “The filming has been hit because of what happened to Henry. He was on an assault course and injured his leg,” a source said. “He just suddenly pulled up and was clearly in a lot of pain. It wasn’t clear if an object had hit his leg or it was some sort of hamstring or muscle injury.”
The source also states that Cavill’s injury “wasn’t bad enough to need an ambulance but it’s messed up the filming schedule as he can’t walk properly,” the source adds “He has to wear heavy armor in the scenes and he just wouldn’t be able to do it with his leg injury.” With the holiday period approaching, production will take a short break but we are keeping our fingers and toes crossed that no more incidents happen on the set of The Witcher and we are able to watch with anticipation at who and what we will find next as the story continues. We already know that plenty of new faces will be making an appearance and we’ll get to see Geralt of Rivia in some brand new armor, too.
The Witcher: Blood Origin, the prequel series which was announced back in July, is set to become even bigger with the introduction of a group of talented writers known for a wide range of works ranging from Swamp Thing, Carnival Row, Moon Knight, Snowpiercer, Mandy, Iron Fist, and many more. Also, even more importantly, the writer’s come from a wide and diverse background meaning that the variety of ideas and creative input will lead to an even greater experience for the show. According to news site Redanian Intelligence, Netflix is looking to cast Aquaman and Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa as the lead character in The Witcher: Blood Origin.
For those who are looking more into the future of The Witcher, you’ll be glad to know that Season three has already been greenlit so Witcher fans will be delighted to have the show continue even when Season Two ends.
