If board games are your thing, The Witcher: Old World could be right down your street. As we set our sights on Netflix’s The Witcher season two, we certainly need something to make the time go in and also get our Geralt of Rivia fix. CD Projekt and publisher Go On Board have headed to Kickstarter to announced their new board game The Witcher: Old World is in production. The board game will be a prequel to the studio’s The Witcher trilogy where players take on the role of Geralt as he battles monsters.
What is The Witcher: Old World board game about?
The Witcher: Old World takes on 2-5 players as it travels through a dark fantasy world in a time long before Geralt of Rivia even existed. Like many board games of this kind, players have roles to take on as monster hunters but before you pick up your ax and begin slaying, players need to train in one of the witcher schools that include School of Wolf, Viper, Cat, Bear, or Griffin. On your adventures through the heart of the Witcher lands, players pick up contracts, face difficult choices, and even come up against other Witchers. Check out the video below from the game’s developer Lukasz Wozniak who goes into more details.
When can I get my hands on The Witcher: Old World board game?
The Kickstarter project has been announced ahead of time and the launch won’t happen until maybe April or May this year but you can sign up to get notified when this goes live. There will also be a Polish and an English version of the board game that will also support solo and co-op play in some way which is great news during a pandemic. When more information comes in about The Witcher: Old World, you can be sure we will let you know.
The Witcher is available to stream on Netflix now and if you wish, be sure to check out our own review for the Netflix series here as you wait to get a look at season two.
