There’s no doubt that both the gaming communities and the Marvel Cinematic Universe find their many spaces to collide. That is one of the (many) reasons that Marvel’s Spider-man from Insomniac Games did so well. But what about a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and MCU crossover?
Okay, that’s not happening.
However, YouTuber PushingButtons capitalized on the hype of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate direct, retooling the new single player mode’s trailer with the audio from Avengers: Infinity War. The result is hilarious and well worth the watch, if you have three minutes on hand.
If you haven’t seen the new mode’s trailer yet, you will instantly understand why the Avengers: Infinity War comparison is being made. After being bombarded by hundreds of Master Hands, the entire roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate characters effectively get “snapped” out of existence. Kirby, the sole surviving member of the Nintendo-themed fighting game, then travels through multiple themed worlds to save the world.
Seen in the trailer below, the trailer is spliced up footage from the Direct as well as other Super Smash Bros. Ultimate promotional videos. Even crazier, this trailer was produced only five hours after the reveal of the mode–proving that the meme game is only getting strong each and every day.
If you missed the 40 minute Nintendo Direct from earlier this week, boy did you miss a doozy. We summed up the roller coaster of emotions–including how dreams were dashed as the intricate “Grinch” leak was disproven. But make sure you catch up if you want to see the three new characters revealed, as well as when you can catch the various amiibo figures.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases for Switch on December 7th. You can pre-order the game on Amazon, a task that will net you the Piranha Plant character (for better or worse).
