Indie developer Villa Gorilla and publisher Team17 released yet another gameplay trailer for their upcoming PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch pinball platformer Yoku’s Island Express today. While the last video highlighted the different power-ups and abilities players would run into during their adventure, today’s trailer highlights some of the more interesting personalities that players will meet along their journey.
While players’ main task in Yoku’s Island Express is to wake up the deity of the island Mokumana, who is stuck in an endless slumber, the titular dung beetle Yoku will run into some quirky characters along the way. These characters include the gluttonous Sin, the Wondrous Willo, who players collect special items for, and some mushroom people, one of whom is named Rinri.
The trailer gives us yet another extended look at gameplay. For those of you who don’t know, Yoku’s Island Express changes up the typical 2D Metroidvania formula by incorporating several pinball elements into the experience. This video is somewhat lighter on those elements though; instead, it opts to showcase Yoku bouncing around several environments and showcase a new grappling ability to assist in traversal.
