New Game Plus Expo has given fans a brand new trailer for the upcoming The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV in addition to the PlayStation 4 release date of October 27, 2020.
In the latest trailer, we find hero and leader of Class VII, Rean Schwarzer, in rough shape and chained up. He doesn’t remain restrained for long though, breaking his bonds Rean confronts his enemies…his students from Class VII?! Cold Steel IV will bring about the close of the Erebonian arc of The Legend of Heroes series, and Class VIIs old and new. Falcom promises that this latest release will feature the most expansive cast of characters of the localized games so far.
Fans of the JRPG genre, there is no better time to start getting into this series in the lead up to this finale. In under two weeks, the third entry will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch, letting a whole new group of players get to know Rean and his friends. Last year, the first two titles all saw enhanced ports released on the PlayStation 4 and PC as well. These are some hefty adventures, so you better get started soon if you plan to catch up before the October 27 release date.
The Cold Steel titles have stolen a part of my heart, and The Legend of Heroes franchise has quickly catapulted up to the top of my favorite RPGs of all time. Last year, the first three games of this arc were my game of the Year pick, so my anticipation of this final entry is overwhelming.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV will also be coming to both PC and the Nintendo Switch next year. Be sure to check out the last trailer for the game, showing off some returning characters and some surprises!
