As one of the most anticipated games set to release in 2020, The Last of Us Part II has been inspiring tons of creations and projects from fans that are eager to see what the next chapter of Joel and Ellie’s story holds. Fan art and illustrations especially have been prevalent in the months leading up to the game, including a new piece from a comic artist rendered in black and white featuring Ellie.
A striking piece of fan art has appeared from comic artist Hyeonjin Kim, which gives a striking black and white look to Ellie as she appears in The Last of Us Part II. You can take a look at the full artwork below from Kim, which was retweeted by series director Neil Druckmann himself:

Kim has created art for several comic series such as Sisters of Sorrow, several projects with the WWE, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers in Space, and the Firefly graphic novel, The Sting. As you can tell, Kim put in a lot of style into the art that reminds me a lot of The Walking Dead, and it would be stellar to see it take a life of its own.
The Last of Us is no stranger to the world of comics, with the series having seen a comic adaptation in 2013’s The Last of Us: American Dreams. The 4-issue limited series released around the time of the original game and provided some interesting backstory for Ellie and Riley leading up to the events of the first game. Aside from comics, the series is also about to be adapted into its own television series from HBO with Druckmann and Chernobyl‘s Craig Mazin overseeing its production.
The Last of Us Part II will release exclusively for PS4 on May 29, 2020, and you can pre-order the game right now over on Amazon.
