The Last of Us Part 2 is known to have some crazy and bizarre moments, and if you’re anything like me you want to know what filming some of those scenes look like. Thankfully, developer Naughty Dog has been kind enough to share some of these moments and the practical magic that went into making them. Below, you can see some behind-the-scenes footage of one of the more notable boss fights in the instant PS4 classic.

In a world populated with clickers and other monstrosities, one of the most horrifying creatures is The Rat King — a collection of multiple clickers fused together within the Seattle hospital. In fact, for a full view of the horrifying encounter, you can see the boss fight in full below:
With the entire game being filmed in motion capture, you may be wondering what this scene looked like when mocap stunt actors Amy Johnston and Chris Robbins taking the role to heart. Thankfully, lead animator for Naughty Dog Jeremey Yates was willing to share that exact moment in the scene below:

Let no one say that motion capture isn’t its own form of art.
The Last of Us Part 2 has been as successful as you can imagine. Despite some blowback from the otherwise dedicated PlayStation fanbase, the game went on to top the June NPD charts — partially due to a slower 2020 release schedule.
