After The Last of Us Part 2 got delayed indefinitely due to the impact of COVID-19, many gamers have been crying out for Naughty Dog to just release the game digitally anyway. Game director Neil Druckman has said that Sony is currently looking at many ways to get the game out to as many people as possible but that time would be needed. If you’re feeling a little down in the dumps about this news, then we have some pretty fine artwork of The Last of Us Part 2‘s Ellie and Joel by concept artist, Kopfstoff.
Kopfstoff who is from Germany and a fulltime concept artist at Deck 13 Interactive, loves to sketch all things The Last of Us. You only have to take a look at his Twitter to see that his love for the post-apocalyptic, third-person game runs deep. Throughout his admiration for the game, Kopfstoff (otherwise known as David Müller) has created many amazing works of art that include The Last of Us Part 2 comic book page, Clicker artwork, Dina and Ellie drawings, and many, many more awe-inspiring creative visions. This time, however, Kopfstoff has gone a step further in his artistic endeavors and drew an incredible picture of Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson taken from a behind the scenes shot from The Last of Us Part 2 and repositioned them into their game characters, Ellie and Joel.
had this idea. homage to the actors behind joel and ellie and the left behind keyart. maybe i’ll finish it later. for now, i am glad it’s out of the head. #TheLastOfUs #TheLastOfUsPartII@Neil_Druckmann@TheVulcanSalute@TroyBakerVA@coyotehackles@johnsweeney2147 pic.twitter.com/uI8ztepBOb

As you can see in the picture above, Troy and Ashley are playing up to the camera in between motion capture shots for the upcoming game. Beside that picture, Kopfstoff recreated the iconic moment into a fantastic sketch showcasing Ellie and Joel doing the same facial gestures and movement. I absolutely adore how precise Kopfstoff is when he draws, capturing the finest details and bringing them to life in a stunning piece of game art. I honestly can’t wait to see even more as I wait patiently for any The Last of Us Part 2 release news.
I’d highly recommend that you check out Kopfstoff’s Twitter and ArtStation to see all of his collection of artistic wonders. There you will find many unrelated The Last of Us artwork as well that I’m confident you will enjoy, also. Kopfstoff also runs competitions where you could end up winning many of his stunning sketches so make sure to also check that out, especially if you’re a big The Last of Us fan.
The Last of Us 2 was originally set to release late in May but as of now, no release date has been rescheduled. As always, when any The Last of Us Part 2 news drops in, you can be sure that DualShockers will have it covered. Who knows when The Last of Us Part 2 will end up releasing now – we’re hopeful it’ll only be a couple of months behind – but in the meanwhile, we did recently get some new screenshots from the game to hold us over. If you don’t want to be spoiled at all for the impending launch of The Last of Us Part 2 (whenever that will be) then you’re better off not watching the latest leaked game footage showing Ellie playing the guitar and running around a theater. Although the video has since been removed from YouTube but not before obtaining 50,000 views and a mass of people downloading it.
