The official The Last Of Us podcast, hosted by writer and comedian Christian Spicer, has been running for a few weeks now and is, as of today’s episode, transitioning into talking about Naughty Dog’s second game in the series.
The first four episodes of the weekly podcast focused on different seasons and sections of the original The Last of Us. Episode one and two focused on the summer sections of the first game, episode three dived into fall and the Left Behind DLC and episode four was centered around Winter and Spring. Each episode has comprised of a stellar cast of guests including Naughty Dog Creative Director Neil Druckmann and voice actors Troy Baker (Joel) and Ashley Johnson (Ellie).
Episode 5 of the podcast launched today across all major podcast streaming platforms and moves on from the first game to The Last of Us Part II. From here on out the podcast tackles the making of the game as opposed to beat by beat breakdown of the first four episodes and comes with a warning that it will contain spoilers.
This episode offers “an introduction to TLOU Part II” with another great cast, consisting of writers Neil Druckmann and Halley Gross, game directors Kurt Margenau and Anthony Newman, co-lead animator Almudena Soria and character concept artist Alexandria Neonakis. Some of the topics discussed on this episode include how early Druckmann knew he’d be making a sequel and the idea of characters growing up in this “new world” alongside a story of how he ended up making Ashley Johnson cry in the middle of a restaurant.
Although The Last of Us Part II has been somewhat polarizing online, the game still managed to smash loads of sales records all over the world and if you’ve not checked it out yet, or are still on the fence of whether you should play it, you can check out our review right here.
