Nearly a week after The Game Awards 2019 transpired, this year’s viewership totals have now come about and the program continues to grow even bigger.
As shared by host and producer Geoff Keighley over on Twitter, The Game Awards saw over 45 million livestreams around the world for this year’s edition of the annual event. This ended up being the biggest year ever for The Game Awards in terms of viewership and stood as an increase of 73% year over year. “Thank you for watching and supporting The Game Awards,” Keighley said alongside the viewership reveal. “The gaming industry keep growing.”

While I personally didn’t find this year’s edition of The Game Awards to contain as many major announcements as past years, there was still plenty to talk about following the show. Likely the biggest reveals throughout the entirety of the program were that of Microsoft unveiling both the Xbox Series X console and Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice also ended up being the night’s biggest winner and was honored with the award for Game of the Year.
The Game Awards will surely return once again in 2020, but a date hasn’t been set in stone just yet on when it’ll be occurring. Per usual, we should hear the first details about the show towards the middle portion of next year.
