Team 17’s celebrated series which centers around being trapped in various prison complexes has just received a new port that will allow players to plot their devious escape anywhere they choose as The Escapists 2: Pocket Breakout hits mobile devices.
The concept here is quite simple. You’re locked up and you’re willing to do anything you can to drastically reduce that sentence without the authorities realizing. This means you’ll need to construct a comically over-complicated escape plan and attempt to execute it in order to see daylight once again.
This is the latest release in the adorable The Escapists series which has been running since 2014 on PC and consoles. Although there are only two core games, each one has featured a wealth of additional content which has included amusing Halloween and Holiday-themed levels.
Originally announced last month, The Escapists 2: Pocket Breakout is jam-packed full of increasingly difficult prison complexes for you to try your luck with. There are five in total spanning from more traditional locations like Precinct 17 to totally ludicrous ones such as Area 51.
Along with the locations, your little convict can be dressed up in a number of different outfits allowing you to personalize and customize his style. From here, you can indulge in four player multiplayer action via a local wireless connection. This includes crossplay between iOS and Android devices.
To ensure that you don’t get caught unawares by the patrolling guards, The Escapists 2: Pocket Breakout features four different control schemes. Firstly you can use the on-screen joystick and button combinations similar to those seen in SEGA Forever releases. Then there are simple touch controls that will see your prisoner homing in on the location you’ve pressed upon. Alternatively, you can have your inmate follow your finger, or even hook up a Bluetooth controller and play the game the old fashioned way.
The Escapists 2: Pocket Breakout is available now on iOS and Android. You can check out the criminal capers in the launch trailer below.
