Last week’s layoffs and inevitable closure of Telltale Games was heartbreaking for a variety of different reasons, one of which being that the studio likely wouldn’t be able to finish the currently ongoing series The Walking Dead: The Final Season according to multiple reports including that of Melissa Hutchison, Clementine’s own voice actress.
This evening, Telltale released a new statement and said that The Walking Dead: The Final Season may end up reaching its conclusion after all. Telltale’s statement said that in light of the studio’s imminent closure, multiple partners have now approached the company about trying to help them reach the finish line with The Walking Dead. While there is nothing further to announce right now, they said they hope to release episodes three and four “in some form.”
By no means should you get your hopes up just yet that The Walking Dead’s final two episodes will end up releasing, but it’s the first piece of positive news that there has been in this saga over the past few days. Telltale ended the statement by saying that they’ll have more answers soon. All we can do now is continue hoping for the best.
In the meantime, the second episode of The Walking Dead: The Final Season is slated to release tomorrow on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. It’s strange to not know if this will be the last time we see Clem, but let’s hope that’s not the case. Keep an eye out for our review of episode two soon.
