On January 27, 2015, Techland released its open-world zombie game Dying Light on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Three years later, the game is still going strong and receiving new content. We have passed the games third anniversary, and developer Techland has revealed that they have several plans to celebrate the game’s anniversary this month.
First off, Techland will be holding weekly giveaways for the game on both Steam and Gemly, with Dying Light set up to be discounted by at most 67% on every platform. Then, around Valentine’s Day, a brand new community bounty titled Undying Love will be activated. The developers also confirmed that a third free in-game content drop will be happening sometime this month, though details on what will be included are currently scarce.
It’s clear that Dying Light fans will have a ton to anticipate this month. Tymon Smektała, Producer of Dying Light, had the following to say about the game’s longevity:
“Dying Light’s longevity is a result of the studio’s hard work, combined with the efforts of our community, who have shown unparalleled love for the game and spent countless hours in Harran. We are nothing but thankful for this exceptional commitment and players’ eagerness to provide us with constructive feedback that helped us make a better game.”
We also received some new sales and player numbers to give us a better idea of how the game has done in its three years on the market. According to Techland, Dying Light has sold over 13 million copies, with there still being over 500,000 players having fun in-game each week.
