2019 is poised to be a crazy year for gaming full of notable releases, with things finally kicking off this Friday. January 11 houses the release of three notable titles, all of which happen to be remasters of great games. Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will all be hitting retail later this week.
You can check out and find affiliate links to pre-order the three biggest releases of this week below. Pre-ordering by tomorrow will ensure that you will get these games at release and help DualShockers stay an independent platform for less-mainstream opinions and news coverage.
Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition
Tales of Vesperia is one of the best entries within the popular RPG series, releasing to critical acclaim all the way back in 2008. That being said, it only made its way west on the Xbox 360, though it did see a PS3 release in Japan. After years of fan requests, Bandai Namco Entertainment finally announced Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch at E3 2018. This Friday, the remastered RPG will finally be in our hands.
As for the game itself, Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition follows former Imperial soldier Yuri Lowell as he forms a guild called Brave Vesperia to protect a noble woman named Estelle. When compared to the original, Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition adds two new party members, updated HD visuals, new music, minigames, bosses, and previously unreleased costume DLC.
Even if you played the original, there definitely seems to be a lot of new content within this remaster to justify picking it up once more. Check out the links below to pre-order Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition:

Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey
Celebrating a ten-year anniversary alongside DualShockers is Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story. Like Superstar Saga, this popular Nintendo DS RPG has been remade as Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey to flesh out the Nintendo 3DS library as new releases for the handheld start to die down. Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey spices up the original experience with new visuals and a new side story featuring Bowser Jr., hence the last part of the new title.
If you missed out on this game back when it first released, I’d definitely recommend picking it up. You can pre-order Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey or pick up a New Nintendo 2DS XL below:

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
Here it is: the game that spawned Bowsette. Outside of spawning a surprisingly popular…thing with Bowsette, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe gives Nintendo Switch players a chance to try out this surprisingly great Wii U launch title. While players were experiencing series fatigue back when it first came out, New Super Mario Bros. U actually contains some great level design and is a lot of fun with friends.
In addition to New Super Mario Bros. U, this Nintendo Switch release also includes New Super Luigi U, a more challenging version of the platformer that released back when the Year of Luigi was actually a thing. Other than that, it is mostly the same experience, though Nabbit and Toadette are now playable in both games. Toadette can pick up a new power-up called the Super Crown to turn into Peachette and gain access to new abilities. That new power-up is what we have to thank for Bowsette’s existence.
If you never owned a Wii U but own a Nintendo Switch, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is still worth picking up despite series fatigue. Pre-order New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe or pick up a Nintendo Switch with the links below, Bowsette demands it:
So, there you have it, those are the biggest releases of January 11. For those of you who prefer to pick up games digitally, the Hitman HD Enhanced Collection will also be releasing that day. This is only the first of many weeks packed with new games in 2019, so you can expect this to become a recurring thing on DualShockers.
