With about a week to go in its campaign, the creator of Tala, Matthew Petrak, posted an update on the game’s Kickstarter page. He also shared a video featuring an adorable flying companion that will help players figure out some of the game’s puzzles.
Point-and-click game Tala was relaunched on Kickstarter last month, and at the time of this writing still has about $2,600 to go in order to meet its goal. In today’s update, Petrak talks about Tala’s flying companion. On top of that cuteness, players will be able to pet dogs in the game with Petrak correctly adding, “in my mind having dogs and being able to pet them is a very important feature missing from so many games.”
You can check out the brief video below showing off Tala’s flying companion, some of the mechanics of the game, and its beautifully unique artwork. Petrak achieved the game’s distinct look by taking pictures at various Austrailian national parks for its settings and digitally animating his characters over them.
If you’re interested in Tala, you can download this short demo on itch.io. Tala’s Kickstarter campaign will last until June 11th, 2018, so there is still time to back this unique game. Once Tala has met its goal, the current plan is to release it in three chapters for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
