In a recent episode of PlayStation Underground, we got a glimpse of Dragon Mines and Retro Stadium in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. There were about 15 minutes of action shown in the gameplay, so, there is quite a bit of info fans can chew on until the release of the game later this month.
While Dragon Mines is a remade course from the original, Retro Stadium is a new PlayStation exclusive track that is sort of a reimagining of Turbo Track. You will see plenty of PlayStation branding plastered throughout the course. On top of that, to add to the retro feel, a lot of the track is filled with low poly textured to give players that N64, PS1 era feel.
Crash Team Racing is one of my gaming regrets. Not that I didn’t enjoy it, but that I never got around to playing the game. I have heard from many peers that it is one of the best kart racers around. Hell, some have even said that it is the best. I have a hard time thinking any kart racer can defeat the king, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but maybe this game can change my mind a bit? I am eagerly anticipating the release of the game so I can make that judgment myself. But, hopefully, this title will stand up to the original back on the PS1.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is set to release on June 21, 2019, for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If you would like to get ahead and pre-order the game, you can do so right here through Amazon.
