We learned back in March that Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido would be making its way to Nintendo Switch in addition to 3DS when it launches next month. We got a taste of the game’s story then, but today Nintendo released a new trailer focused on that aspect of the game.
In Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido’s anime-inspired world, the evil Empire has banned the consumption of Sushi after a long war where they be the Republic. Protagonist Musashi is an orphan, as his parents died fighting in that war. At the beginning of the game, Musashi stumbles upon an ancient shrine and gains the power of a Sushi Striker, so he sets off on a quest to bring sushi back to his world.
This trailer also highlights several characters Musashi will fight in Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido. There is Kojiro, who is a local bully, Celia, a skilled Sushi assassin for the Empire, and General Kodiak, a strong enforcer for the empire. Battles with these opponents play out like a puzzle game, as players try to eat sushi off plates of the same color into to throw the giant stack of plates at their opponent.
Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido is currently poised to release on Nintendo Switch and 3DS on June 5. It can currently be pre-ordered on Amazon.
