Earlier this year, a new Star Wars game entitled Project Maverick leaked through the PlayStation Store, but at the time, we had no idea what it was. Now, all these months later, it seems like we could finally have a better idea.

This time around, coming about via the Microsoft Store, a new game entitled Star Wars: Squadrons has appeared. The title of the project was accompanied alongside the tagline “Pilots wanted” which is in proximity to an image two pilots – one of the Rebellion and Imperial variety, respectively. Clearly, Squadrons looks to be a ship-based experience set in the Star Wars universe, which will likely delight many.

Below you can see an image of the game’s appearance on the storefront’s opening page:

While a “Pre-Order Now” prompt is seen near the title of the game, the hyperlink currently leads to a dead page. Clearly, this announcement for Star Wars: Squadrons was pushed live a bit sooner than intended.

One possibility for why this could be is that Electronic Arts’ EA Play event was originally meant to transpire yesterday. However, EA ended up pushing the showcase back to next week on June 18. Considering EA is still the license holder when it comes to all Star Wars video games, it seems likely that this is a reveal we’ll see at EA Play next week and the promotional materials, like here on the Microsoft Store, just didn’t get pushed back to coincide with the new date for the live stream.

We should be learning a whole lot more about Star Wars: Squadrons here in the near future, so stay tuned.
