During a presentation for investors at the Credit Suisse 21st Annual Technology conference on Scottsdale, Arizona, Electronic Arts Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen commented on the quality of Star Wars Battlefront II.
According to Jorgensen, Star Wars Battlefront II is “one of the best games” the publisher ever built, and this feedback comes from the players that are currently playing it. Interestingly, he also added that player retention over time is better than most of Electronic Arts’ games.
“The great news is, this is one of the best games we’ve ever built. And we’re hearing that from the players who are actually playing the game and engaging in the game. The retention day over day is better than we’ve seen in almost any of our games, the depth of the game is incredible, the size of the game unbelievable, and we’ll be adding in the next couple of weeks more content than we’ve ever added in a game before.”
Jorgensen continued by explaining that the new content will come around the release of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie, and there will be “all sorts of new gameplay” focused on that. Electronic Arts is trying to build a game that players will engage in for many years to come.
That said, Jorgensen did not evade the issue of microtransactions and loot boxes, explaining what led to the controversy and possible measures that could be taken, adding that the company is listening to its customers and learning.
