Square Enix and V-Jump revealed new information on the Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai new anime and games projects on May 27 via a live stream. May 27 is Dragon Quest day, celebrating the release anniversary of the first Dragon Quest in 1986. Yuji Horii explained three Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai games will be announced. All three games are part of the “Dragon Quest: Adventure of Dai Game Project” The stream is still underway, we’ll be updating this article on the go. We covered the anime details in another article.
The stream featured Dragon Quest‘s Yuji Horii, and Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai writer Riku Sanjo. The games reveal part also featured the newly revealed seiyuu. Square Enix’ Ryutaro Ichimura was present too.
The first game revealed was Dragon Quest Dai no Daibouken Tamashii no Kizuna, coming to iOS and Android in 2021. The game is developed by Dena. More info on the game will be coming in Fall 2020, around when the anime starts in October 2020.
The second game announced was Dragon Quest Dai no Daibouken Xross Blade, coming to arcade after Fall 2020. It’s a card battle based game. The game is developed by TakaraTomy Arts, the company behind popular arcade games Pretty Rhythm, PriPara and Prichan, part of the Pretty Series franchise. Dai’s new seiyuu Atsumi Tanezaki played the game live during the stream.
The third and final game was Infinity Strash Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. It’s an action RPG. No platforms were revealed besides that it’s coming to consoles in 2021. Some screenshots were shown too. Infinity Strash will take a “lot of time to complete” according to Square Enix’ Ryutaro Ichimura and it’ll be the last game of the three to release.
