Today, Swedish developer Toadman Interactive announced its brand-new game, a Dark Souls-inspired sci-fi third-person shooter/action RPG hybrid called Immortal: Unchained.
The developers first original franchise, Immortal: Unchained is apparently set in a “crazy futuristic fantasy world,” that is collapsing amidst a cosmic event.
In the game, you control a protagonist described as a “living weapon,” with a goal to bring an end to the cataclysm. You have no memory of who you are or what you do, all you know is time is running out for the world.
Along the way, things will begin to unravel as you meet characters and progress the story. However, the developer notes, the truth is not always going to be clear, as the characters you will encounter will have their own agendas.
While you play as a preset character, you do have some customization options in the form of selecting six different “disciplines” at the start of the game. Further, you will have over 100 guns and unique weapons and armor to choose from as you journey across nine different worlds. According to Toadman Interactive, the game’s gameplay is not for the faint-hearted, and will pack a meaty challenge.
Immortal: Unchained is in development for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, poised to release sometime during Q2 2018 (both digitally and at retail). For more information on the title — including a deeper dive into it’s combat — be sure to check out a new PlayStation Blog post covering just that.
