DeAndre Cortez Way, also known as Soulja Boy, is a rapper from Chicago who has recently made the news after selling his own range of products under the “Soulja” brand. These products, which consisted of watches, earphones, phones, tablets and consoles, were all quickly found to be knock-off products of existing brands, or emulation software.

Many fans called out the rapper for knocking off brands such as AirPods, Apple Watch, and especially Nintendo with the sale of the SouljaGame Handheld and SouljaGame Console as well as his attempts to put ROMs of games he didn’t have the rights to on his systems. The Handheld was a direct knock-off of the Gameboy and the Console was a clear attempt at replicating the Wii U and similar Nintendo systems. The legality of the entire operation was reasonably questioned, with the rapper aggressively responding that the people inquiring about it were “retarded”.

That was in a now deleted tweet, among others, in which Soulja Boy insisted nothing would happen to his lineup of brands. The reason the tweets are now deleted is because… well… it happened. In a seemingly swift move from one of the copyright holders he ticked off with his consoles, the rapper has since removed all evidence that the SouljaGame consoles ever existed; in fact, they’ve been removed from his SouljaWatch website, Twitter, and other social media. When asked what happened, he took to Twitter to post this:

You can get a good laugh out of reading the replies, in which everyone calls him out for being so arrogant. It’s quite hilarious to see his name getting media attention years after the initial release of “Crank Dat”. I guess Reggie Fils-Aimé and his team weren’t fans of the would-be sensation that was the Soulja Boy. I’m getting tired of writing the word Soulja now, so I think I’ll end this article here on a high note signaling the victory for companies like Nintendo.
