Legendary rapper and community football coach Snoop Dogg has had a long and enduring relationship with video games, which he continued on Monday with Mortal Kombat 11. Snoop hopped on Twitch and Mixer with special guests like 21 Savage, as celebrity competitors battled in the “Snoop Dogg’s Gangsta Gaming League” for the title of King of the Kompound.

Other competitors included Survivor contestant and Playboy model Rachel Ako, Disney actor Kamil McFadden, Rachel Swindler (Big Brother), Dashae Frost (S.W.A.T.), co-host of the first Gangsta Gaming League event Dan Rue, and a host of other names that I do not recognize at all. The competition was brought to viewers by Merry Jane, and you can probably guess what industry they’re in. Ultimately, internet personality Brooke Bridges emerged victoriously against Snoop, becoming the, well, Queen of the Kompound.

Last we saw Snoop Dogg seeping into the gaming world, he was receiving a copy of Spyro Reignited Trilogy from a Spyro drone, which is a thing that happens to normal people. As mentioned in that previous story, entering the search term “Snoop Dogg” unexpectedly returns an absurd number of results, with Snoop making the headlines with other games like Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Ghosts.

These players got to showcase some of the old and new characters featured in Mortal Kombat 11, which finally launches on Monday. Frost was one of the last characters to be unveiled, with some potential future DLC characters being leaked earlier this week. Mortal Kombat 11 at launch will be on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and even Nintendo Switch, which I got to play at PAX East 2019.

Be sure to check out our full review of the fighting game, and see for yourself how the celebrity tournament went through the embedded video below. And for real, for all we joke about Snoop Dogg and weed culture, the guy’s doing a cool thing coaching that youth football team with kids living in tough environments. Be your best selves, y’all.
