I found Snipperclips: Cut it Out, Together! to be a really fun co-op puzzle game that helped bolster the Nintendo Switch’s quite small launch lineup, so I was happy to hear that Nintendo was releasing a new version of the game with Snipperclips Plus: Cut it Out, Together! that brought some new things to the table. One of these new things is the fact that the Joy-Cons are no longer required to play that game.
According to an interview that IGN had with Nintendo and developer SFB Games, Snipperclips Plus: Cut it Out, Together! will finally let players use all of the Switch’s other unique control options besides the Joy-Cons to play the game. Snipperclips did a very great job at showing what the Joy-Cons could do, but I always thought that having additional control options for those who don’t like using an individual Joy-Con would’ve been nice.
Todd Buechele, Nintendo’s Assistant Manager of Product Development, actually revealed that this was something the developers always wanted to add to the game but didn’t have the time to implement until the development of Snipperclips Plus: Cut it Out Together!:
“We actually have always wanted to support them, even from the beginning. It was just something that we ended up having to shelve at the time, and that was actually one of the key targets when we looked at Snipperclips Plus.”
For those that own the original version of Snipperclips, a free update will be releasing in the coming weeks that implements that support into the base game:
“It will actually be a default in Snipperclips Plus, and then we are releasing a patch for Snipperclips next week that will bring Pro Controller and Grip support to all players who have already downloaded the game. It’s a free update, so that capability will be there very soon.”
If you want to see the game in action, you can check out a previously released overview trailer. Snipperclips Plus: Cut it Out, Together! will be available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on November 10.
