Trick flips, mad nollies, rolling manuals, radical combos. All of these are possible in Easy Day Studios’ Skater XL, and what else do you need in a skateboarding game? A smashing soundtrack. Thankfully a bunch of confirmed artists has been revealed to be bringing wonderful music to the world of Skater XL as it draws closer to launch.
The list of artists currently confirmed includes a range of genres you’d expect to find in a skateboarding game, or perhaps Michael Ruiz’s MP3 player. There are some big names contributing to the games skater soundtrack as you can see from the list below. At current, no tracks have been revealed and they won’t be until the game’s launch later this month on July 28.
- Modest Mouse
- Band of Horses
- Getter
- Interpol
- Future Islands
- Animal Collective
- Silversun Pickups
- STARHEADBODY
- Built To Spill
- Cende
- Kratos Himself
- The Shivas
- Westkust
Jeff Goforth, marketing director at Easy Day Studios said, “We really wanted the soundtrack to reflect skateboarding culture, as well as pay homage to some of the artists that provided the soundtracks to some of the most influential skate videos of all time” As someone who used to skate with some Silversun Pickups playing many years ago, the mention of that particular band is a perfect fit. The question is, will it be Panic Switch or a more recent track, such as Freakazoid?
What artists are you excited to hear in the upcoming skating game? Michael Ruiz recently interviewed the developer about the game. It’ll be available for PS4, PC, and Xbox One on July 28, and a Nintendo Switch version will launch later this year.
