With June rapidly approaching, Microsoft today unveiled which four games will be joining the ongoing Games with Gold program in the month for Xbox Live Gold subscribers.
Beginning on June 1, Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will be the first game joining Games with Gold. The arrival of Pirate’s Curse just comes a few days after the release of the newest Shantae title, Shantae and the Seven Sirens, which is set to launch later this week on May 28. Pirate’s Curse will be free on Xbox One for the entire month of June, too.
As for the other Xbox One title being made available in the month, Coffee Talk will be joining the Games with Gold lineup on June 16 and will be free until the following month on July 15. Coffee Talk is actually a very recent release and only launched just earlier this year. The game plays like a visual novel or adventure game where you are the owner of a local coffee shop who converses with the many different characters that come through the restaurant. Our reviewer, Michael Ruiz, largely enjoyed his time with Coffee Talk when he played it earlier in 2020.
As for the throwback games that are coming to Games with Gold in June, it’s a bit of a strange lineup. From June 1 through the 15th, the original Xbox edition of Destroy All Humans! will be free for Gold subscribers. This comes only a bit over a month before the remake of DAH! from THQ Nordic releases, which makes its addition here a little bit odd.
Rounding out the lineup and being available starting on June 16 until the end of the month is the Xbox 360 game Sine Mora. This shoot ’em up from Grasshopper Manufacture originally released back in 2012 and was largely well-received by critics when it launched.
All in all, it’s not a terrible slate of releases on the month, especially if you’ve been holding out on grabbing a game like Coffee Talk from earlier this year. If you’re not already an Xbox Gold subscriber, you can join the program for $9.99 a month or instead you can join through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which retails for $14.99 a month.
