Today Shadowplay Studios and Blowfish Studios, the developer behind the recently released Morphite, announced that their PC game Projection: First Light would be arriving on PC sometime in Q2 2018, and that it was also be released at the same time on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

In addition to the announcement of the console and PC release, a brand new, forty-five second trailer was also released, which shows off brand new gameplay from the title.

Projection: First Light is a 2D puzzle/platformer that takes place across multiple points in history, with an art style that is meant to look like old puppets. You play as girl named Greta, who is trying to discover new cultures and ideas. In addition to Greta, you’ll also have a small light at your disposal that can create shadows — a mechanic which can allow you to progress through the level. The title is set to include important locations from around the world like 19th century England, Turkey, Greece, China, and Indonisia.

While speaking about how the team came up with the idea for the game, the founder of Shadowplay Studios, Michael Chu, had this to say:

“The idea behind Projection: First Light went off like a lightbulb in my head when I recalled playing with shadows on a wall as a child. After toying with light manipulation at a game jam, we discovered the concept had a number of wonderful gameplay applications, which we hope to share with the gaming community along with the rich art and history behind shadow puppetry when Projection: First Light releases early next year.”

You can check out the previously mentioned trailer, as well as a ton of brand new screenshots from the game below.
