Alongside its PS4 and PC releases, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin will be launching on Nintendo Switch as well. Marvelous and XSeed announced the Switch release of Sakuna with a new trailer.
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is a doujin game developed by Edelweiss, the doujin studio behind 3D Shmup AsteBreed. Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin mixes action RPG and rice farming elements as the protagonist Sakuna is a goddess, born from the union of a war god and a farming and fertility goddess.
In the game, Sakuna needs to explore Hinoe island, the place where she ended up getting banished along with a group of humans. HInoe Island is currently ruled by monsters, so Sakuna will need to defeat the demons and develop rice culture to help the humans.
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin‘s rice cultivation gameplay is based on ancient rice cultivation techniques of Japan. The game is a true simulation and aims to be the most realistic rice simulation game in history.
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin was announced to be coming west slightly before E3 2017, and the game will be featured at E3 2019 as well.
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin has no precise release date yet, but the game is supposed to launch this winter.
