Days Gone, SIE Bend Studio’s upcoming game, is well known to be Sony’s next major single-player only title. In an alternate future, however, that may not have been the case, as Saber Interactive, the developer of World War Z, once approached Sony about contributing to a multiplayer component in some capacity, at least according to a new interview by GamesBeat.

In the interview, which was originally reported by Wccftech, Matt Karch, the CEO of Saber Interactive, said that they tried to use their work on World War Z as an example for what they could do on Days Gone. Unfortunatly, it never got past the conversation stage, as Sony wanted to instead focus on the main game. Days Gone, it’s a single-player experience. At some point I went to Sony and said, “I’ve seen what you’re doing with Days Gone. Look what we’re doing with World War Z. Maybe we can help you with a multiplayer component.” But they were obviously too focused, and understandably, on what they needed to do to get that game out.

In other Days Gone news, back in November, the game’s official box art was officially released.

Days Gone is set to launch on April 26, 2019, and will, of course, be available exclusively on PlayStation 4.
