San Diego Comic-Con 2018 is taking place next week from July 19 to July 22 and while the convention isn’t normally known for its massive gaming presence, one developer with a former comic related IP decided to get out in front before the show starts to inform fans that they will not be attending.

Jamie Walker, the Studio Director at Rocksteady, recently took to Twitter to let fans know that they shouldn’t expect any announcements regarding the studio’s next project at SDCC. “Inb4 people start asking about whether @RocksteadyGames will be at SDCC this year: we’d love to be there but won’t be ready to talk about our next game for a while yet,” Walker stated. As for when it might be time to finally learn more about this game, he simply teased, “You’ll know when it’s time.”

Rocksteady’s last release came in 2016 when they launched Batman: Arkham VR as a launch title on PS VR before later bringing it to PC. Before this, they released Batman: Arkham Knight in June of 2015 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Many thought that since it has been over three years since Arkham Knight’s release that Rocksteady might finally be ready to reveal details on their latest project soon. After skipping both E3 and SDCC though, it seems that they’ll need more time before they’re ready to talk about whatever this secretive game is.

Members of the team at Rocksteady have been talking for a few years now about this new project and have claimed that it’s going to feel very different from what they’ve done in the past. Perhaps this drastic departure is the reason as to why they’ve opted to stay quiet about this game longer than what many expected. One thing’s for sure though: whenever Rocksteady does reveal this new game, it’ll surely draw massive attention due to the studio’s high-caliber of work in the past.
