Before Rocket League released on July 7, 2015, the soccer-but-with-racecars mashup ‘Soccar’ was the kind of thing that may have seemed too zany to build an entire game around. Now, five years later, developer Psyonix has watched millions of players fall in love with Rocket League, which effortlessly encapsulated its many fans across the world with its unique Soccar gameplay style and high accessibility.
Now five years later, on July 7, 2020, Psyonix has released an infographic that showcases exactly how far the beloved Soccar simulator has come since it was first introduced.
The biggest data points on the infographic illustrate that, in its lifetime, Rocket League has enjoyed over “75 million players, 5 billion matches, and 29 billion goals” scored worldwide. Other points included on the graphic are a long list of “Big Moments”, which show how Rocket League developed over the timespan of five years, as well as stats like ‘Most Popular Rocket Pass Item/Car’ within the past 12 months, and most popular items equipped within the past 12 months.
There’s even more info to find inside, however, and the infographic itself lays these key data points out so that they’re straightforward and accessible.
Only a few weeks ago, we reported that Rocket League was set to host a special 5th-anniversary event in which players could engage in “Limited Time Modes” and pick up new items such as “Psyonix and Rocket League-themed” wheels, toppers, antennas, and more. ‘Golden Eggs’ are making a comeback as well, giving players the ability to earn unique items from previous Champions Series. The event began on June 30 and is underway through July 13.
In addition to the data presented on the infographic, Psyonix boasts the addition of over 60 new vehicles, a dozen new modes, cross-platform play, in-game shops, and 14 Competitive Seasons since the game’s initial release.
You can jump in today on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Crossplay means that you can join your friends in any online Rocket League match, regardless of which platform you or they choose to play on.
