There’s a lot to be said for the hype that comes with waiting for your favorite games to be released. They excitement of watching each new trailer, the suspense as you’re drip-fed information about characters and scenarios; it all really gets the blood pumping for the game’s final launch date. However, sometimes it can be just as much fun to be to caught completely unawares by an announcement, and that’s exactly the kind of feeling that Risk of Rain fans are currently experiencing.
Initially released back in 2013 on Steam, rogue-like platformer Risk of Rain was also ported to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. However, yesterday it was announced via the game’s official Twitter page that it had just become available on Nintendo Switch as a digital download totally out of the blue.
Hapoo Games’ classic randomized 2D gem is also in line to see a sequel. The project was announced earlier this year but is still in early development. Differing from the original, Risk of Rain 2 will be a fully 3D experience.
Risk of Rain is currently available on PC, Linux, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and it is now on Nintendo Switch too.
