After the recent content drop centered around the recent release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the team at DICE today outlined what would next be arriving in Star Wars Battlefront II over the coming months.
First and foremost, the team stated that Battlefront II will be receiving a revamped progression system in the coming months. The loot box-centric progression system found within the game’s multiplayer has been one of the core issues that many have had with Battlefront II. It was also one of my own personal problems that I discussed in my review of the game a few months back. DICE didn’t say much else about these changes but promised that they would be “significant” with more information coming in March.
Next up, it has been revealed that a new game mode called Jetpack Cargo will be available starting next month. The Battlefront II team describes this 8v8 mode as “a frantic, fast-paced way to play.” Jetpack Cargo will only be available for a limited time, however, with the specific dates still unlisted.
Lastly, it was also confirmed that a new Season will be arriving soon. Nothing more was really given other than this simple confirmation, but they did state that the team learned a lot after The Last Jedi Season and will be implementing these new learnings in the next wave of content for the game.
As has been seen since the release of Battlefront II last year, the team at DICE isn’t afraid to make drastic changes to the core of the game as time moves on. What will be interesting to watch moving forward is whether or not microtransactions will work their way back into Battlefront II after the new progression system has been implemented. Only time will tell, but we’ll continue to update you on all of the new information outlined in this article once we learn more specific details.
