In a video from the YouTube channel Spawn Wave and Gematsu, Capcom will release a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis sometime in 2020.
Eurogamer also reports that the Resident Evil 3 remake has been in development for quite some time. Additionally, Eurogamer mentions that the upcoming multiplayer Resident Evil game Project Resistance has been the main focus.
No other details were given but it’s safe to say we’ll get an official announcement sometime within the next couple of months. For those that don’t know, Spawn Wave was the first to report on Bandai Namco’s Elden Ring prior to its reveal at E3 2019. With Resident Evil 2 receiving some nominations from The Game Awards such as game of the year, it’s possible we’ll get an announcement during the award show, which airs on December 12.
The Resident Evil 2 remake launched back in January to rave reviews and it was one of the best selling games that month. Between the releases of Resident Evil 2, Monster Hunter, and Devil May Cry 5, Capcom had strong sales numbers during the last quarter. Additionally, Gematsu adds that Resident Evil 2 had sold 4.7 million units since September 30 . The remake also spawned some entertaining mods ranging from facing off against the goose from Untitled Goose Game to swapping out Mr. X with Pennywise the clown from Stephen King’s It.
Resident Evil 2 wasn’t the only Resident Evil game to make its way to other consoles this year. Ports of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5, and Resident Evil 6 have all come to the Nintendo Switch this year.
While it’s unclear when the Resident Evil 3 remake will specifically release, we’ll be sure to let you know. If you’re looking for another Resident Evil remake, Resident Evil 2 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can watch Spawn Wave’s YouTube video on the rumor below.
