Following its reveal in Sony’s recent State of Play, Remedy Games announced the release date and name of Control‘s next DLC. And now, they announced that they’re debuting gameplay for AWE (short for Alternate World Event), the next story DLC for 2019’s Control next week on Thursday at 7PM Eastern Time.
Remedy Games has been on a roll recently. Between the critical and commercial success of both Control and its The Foundation DLC and the reveal that they were working on the story campaign for Crossfire X, they’re poised to be in a fantastic position for the coming console generation.
Thomas Puha, the communications director for Remedy took to Twitter to announce that the Finnish studio was debuting gameplay for Control‘s second DLC late next week.
Tune in a week from now for the AWE gameplay reveal with @SamLakeRMD @MikaelKasurinen @vidaisonline as we expand on all you’ve seen and read today and have some more news in store. #awe @ControlRemedy @505_Games @remedygames pic.twitter.com/mskFT8IDV7

In the Tweet, Puha also announced that he’d be hosting the reveal with Remedy writer and creative director Sam Lake, Control director Mikael Kasurinen, and Remedy’s community manager, Vida Starčević on the developer’s official Twitch channel.
While we know very little about the DLC at this point, it’s clear that based on the trailer, previous teases and the DLC’s name, it’s going to involve some crossover with Alan Wake, which has already been confirmed to be in the same universe as Control multiple times, including when Remedy laid out their content roadmap for Control.
They only released a short teaser trailer for the DLC, but based on everything we’ve seen and the last Control DLC, it’ll be exciting to see where the team at Remedy takes the world of Control next. The Alternate World Event DLC for Control is set to release on August 27 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
